Photo Shoot Summary

The photo shoot i feel went very well, i gained a good 20 images that we’re fit for use. These are the 3 main pictures i have settled on using. The first Is my front cover, It’s what i had planned from day one. I referred back to my drafts and initial ideas to see what i originally had planned and what ideas i had. It was good to do this because it reminded me of what i had planned out, to be totally honest i was just going to go into the shoot and take pictures without planning my shots or referring back to my plans. The second picture i am going to use for my contents page, it’s a lot more informal and has a nice colour to then create a theme throughout the page. Of all the pictures, this one i am most proud of. When i first started working with photoshop i knew basically nothing, now i feel so much more confident and this picture is evidence of that. The editing was an action i created, which i then used on a series of other images, which i shall use on the other pages of my magazine. The final Photograph will be used for my double page spread, this was also an idea i had planned from the start. I wanted to keep the sky as a background to make it a lot easier to place the text on the page. I used the landscape format to make it easier to place over the 2 pages.

Music Magazine Publishers

 

Kerrang and ‘Q’ – Published by

‘The Bauer Media Group.’

After doing some research i have decided the if my magazine was to be published the Bauer media group would fit the institution that would publish this sort of magazine. The Bauer media group are a German company with offices in any countries. The are the publisher of magazines such as Kerrang and Q, seen as my magazine is a slight mix between these two concepts i think this institution seems appropriate. In my personal opinion i do think that my magazine ha the right presentation to be a self published media text. The magazine concept is very individual in the ways it challenges conventions and leads the way to attract the sub genres of music, a niche audience but still and audience that i feel would only have this option to gain the most out of their favoured artists and music style.

IPC Media

IPC media are the leading magazine publisher in the UK and sell over 350 million copies of magazines a year. NME one of the other main music magazines that would be closest linked to my media text is published by IPC media. Although IPC are the leading publisher i don’t think this ‘brand’ would take on a magazine such as mine, the concept  and the individual personality that my magazine has would not be be something this publisher would like. In their terms i personally think i would qualify of enough of a cash comeback. IPC tend to aim in more less specific direction, for example they have a magazine called ‘Women’. From the title you can see that their audience isn’t a certain crowd, its a whole gender.

Other magazines like Rock sound which i must admit is a magazine i missed in my research, is a self published magazine that doesn’t have a major leading institution it is completely self reliant. The magazine it’s self is a lot like kerrang but a little more open to new music, this is close to my magazine and probably more of a rival than kerrang. After looking at this magazine a little more i realised that my magazine would be a very good some what ’spin off’ from this magazine. If it was to make to an institution of them all i think ‘Rock Sound LTD’ would be the best institution to publish my magazine.
