After gathering some responses, one thing that was highlighted was the image, although it was liked, its was not to clear. This picture still follows the black and white theme, but u have an image which i personally think relates to the task out lines more. I then added a few more parts to the cover, changes some things and adding the Polaroid, style photograph in.picture-2

Contents Adjustments and questionnaire

November 20, 2008

contents-page22

This is the next step in my contents page, after getting some responses from the questionnaire back. I realized that the contents was slightly plain and missed a few things. So after reading the responses and doing some research i realized i was missing an Editors note. I added the note and then change the position of  the second content column to fit the note in, i moved it down and placed the note above it. I was going to put a picture of me or some one as the editor, but i felt that the images on the page already dominated the page and that another image would draw away the simplicity of my over all style.

The questionnaire

1. What is you first impression of the front cover and the contents page?

2. Do you like the over all style of the magazine?

3. What do you like or dislike?

4. Do you think of the photographs used, do you think they are appropriate?

5. If you saw the magazine on a self would you buy it and what is your reason for your answer?

6. As a student would you find this magazine useful as well as entertaining?

7. Any other comments about the front cover and contents page?

I am still waiting for some responses but i have received a few.

What are some of the reasons the popularity of U.S produced films for the UK audience?

November 14, 2008

one of the reasons US films are so popular in the UK is that the audience gets an insight into how the americans live and communicate. We gather a total different view on the culture of america. There are many different genres and they all depict different cultures and way of living. Us as an audience find it entertaining to see the way other people live, it gives the viewer a chance to see the world. It creates a somewhat serial world form the audience, seeing this culture is something there not used to, making the film more entertaining.

An american film such as DC or Marvel films appeal to the UK’s range of ages in the way that kids will love the mystery and the fiction. Adults love them because of the nostalgia, they remember reading the comics and hen seeing the films come to life is something they like. The comic book hero style films appeal to the Uk audience because we love to things that aren’t real, many people love to be able to escape to a fantasy world, and this is what the american films provide, a different world and culture were we can escape from what we see every day. For this same reason many english films appeal vastly to the american audience.

Money is also a major reason american films are successful in the UK. American producers put a lot more money into their productions, so the effects, acting, scenery and all other aspects are some times better, than what we may be able to produce. Most audiences like the special effects and a good performance, its what creates a good film. but the UK audiences love to see this, we are impressed by Creative effects and twisting story lines. American producers and the typical Hollywood films are backed by a lot of money, and strongly funded by investors. This money then creates films that are typical to Hollywood.

The one debate that continues through the movie business is what is actually classed as an american film. many english directors and producers go to Hollywood to be successful, mainly due to the fact thats its the best place to do that, so if the director is english is it an english film? Many films that are american may have had an english influence, this could be why we love the movies so much. Hollywood has always had the upper hand on creating better movies, this is probably the main reason we enjoy them as a UK audience.

Contents Page Draft

contents-page2

The contents page is very simple and i have tried to keep it to the same theme as my front cover. I have used the same fonts and the style of underlining the main mast head. I personally like the way the photograph at the top looks, its makes the page look more interesting but still simple.

It was made in the same way as the front cover, i used stroke on some of the text and a gradient to make more detail in the background. Although this is a draft, i am very pleased with the outcome and may consider using it for the final piece. All photographs featured in the contents page are my own images.

I started off with a plain white background and eventually built up the layers. the image was the first thing to put on the page. I do feel that there needs to be a little more on this contents page, so i shall research it a bit more and think of different things to put on the page.

Media Magazine Draft 2

November 6, 2008

This is the template i made for my magazine cover, most of the cover will stay the same the only thing that i might change is the Photograph.

second-magazine-cover-draft

My first first draft that was posted before was not much different, the only mistake i made was that i did not make the document size A4. i corrected this in this draft and added a few more pieces to the cover. I added some tag lines/ cell lines, feature lines and more.

I really like the title for the magazine, i like the minimal style we have decided to keep it simple because after research it is what my target audience like.
